Interview Notes: After a change in leadership, they are changing the direction of the company and he doesn’t think the business goals align with where he wants to go. As head of the technology and development group, he is running an entire product team, handling development to implementation. There are 80 employees now and he currently manages about 40 of them. While he started his career in development, he has not done any coding for many years. MS Stack background. Ideally wants to be hands-off.
They have four product lines for banking/mortgage companies – mortgage backend processing is the biggest product, also have business processing applications, and couple new products they’re building. His day to day involves strategy meetings/setting directions for the team, resource management, road mapping with the product owners, being a part of the operations and security committee, working on technology advancement, researching new tech and vendors, streamlining business and operations. They have a lot of legacy software that they are working on consolidating and also an offshore development initiative – consolidate into one team.
5- 6 weeks vacation now. No hands-on development in 15 years.
